The Autonomy Index™ was created to answer a simple question that most organisations cannot answer today: how much of our workflow does AI actually own?

Why it exists

Most AI measurement focuses on hours saved or tasks automated. Those metrics reward activity, not adoption. They tell you AI was used. They do not tell you whether the workflow itself has changed.

Workflow ownership is a better metric because it exposes the depth of adoption. A workflow where AI owns intake, triage and analysis is fundamentally different from one where AI is used to draft an email at the end.

The vision

The Autonomy Index™ is designed to become a recognised industry standard for measuring AI adoption — a common language for customer success teams, AI vendors, operations leaders, transformation executives, enterprise buyers and governance functions.

Every completed assessment contributes anonymous benchmark data. Longitudinal follow-ups build the first dataset on how AI ownership of work changes over time. The long-term output is the annual State of AI Workflow Adoption Report.
